|Getting off base
Zero was annoyed. And bored. And if he had to get scanned by Dr. Cain one more time
he would be forced to do something drastic like bite the scientist's hand or something. He was half-wondering if coming back had been worth
it. At least when he was Maverick he wasn't more or less confined to base.
And he knew he was driving X up the walls. But he didn't have anything else to do
. Zero thought they were afraid that he was going to go on a rampage or something and kill half of the general public. Not like he'd been particularly dangerous when he was Maverick before. Of course, there was no sense talking about it in the past tense. He still was
Maverick and he knew it. Dr. Cain only told him that every time a scan came back.
Zero pushed that thought aside. He was going to get off base. He might as well ask if X wanted to come, rather than sneak off and have X follow him. That decided, he headed off too look for the other Hunter.

Dr. Cain had finished the antiviral early that day, but Zero had no way of knowing that. Nor did he know if X was recovered or capable of going after him.
Really, though a lot of people would qualify him as Maverick, Zero hadn't done that much. He'd broken up a riot in town with a bit more force than normal. And he'd killed a few furry animals, but aside from that, there hadn't been any casualties. He didn't see the point in killing all the humans, or elevating reploids to the supreme species on the planet. Killing all the humans would take far too much time and effort, and so would trying to enslave them. Those were the most popular theories among mavericks, after all. No, Zero didn't want to do any of that.
He just wanted X. The rest could be worked out later. For now he was waiting. He was waiting for X to come to him, and he knew he would. And so. to speed things along, he placed a call to X's communicator. He did hope that the other Hunter answered. Otherwise, he'd have to go find him.((Warning: The comments of this post are most definitely not safe for work! Zero had just dismissed the rookies. After being reinstated into the Hunters, he'd taken over rookie training again. Or at least most of it. He didn't mind
being used as target practice, if only because he was better than X was at dodging. That, and it was fun
taking Adaptor Raptor down a few pegs. That had been the highlight of training the rookies really. Though as of late the task had left him with a lot of restless energy left over, and he didn't know why. He'd also had a low-grade headache for the past several days. Which wasn't supposed to happen, since robots weren't supposed to get headaches.
Shaking his head and dismissing it all, he went looking for X. He was actually hoping that he could coax the other hunter into sparring match. Really, X was the only one who could hold his own against Zero and come out of the match without any lasting damage. Which meant that he was the first person Zero went to when he wanted to spar.

Consciousness came slowly for Zero. But when it finally came, he blinked awake, a bit surprised.
After all, the last thing he remembered was going on a mission with X and running into Cigma.
No, if he was going to be honest, the last thing he remembered was getting stabbed in the chest with Cigma's beam saber. Everything after that was a blank. And sifting through his memories, he found that the week leading up to the mission was a bit spotty. "What happened?" he asked, sitting up slowly.
"Ah, Zero! You're awake! How do you feel?" Dr. Cain said, not-quite rushing over to Zero.
"Weird. My memory is all--"
"Spotty? I thought so. I did the best I could. You died. You are not
allowed to do that again!"
Zero just looked at the scientist for a few moments. "I what
"You died," Dr. Cain said. "I had a rather interesting time getting you--"
"Whatever. Is X okay?" Zero demanded.
But before the scientist could answer, he got up, taking off to go find X. He should simply be lucky that Dr. Cain saw fit to give him clothes

Zero was prepping for a mission. Already, he'd called X to him. He had to brief the other repliroid after all.
The mission itself was pretty straightforward. There was an old abandoned warehouse just beyond the city limits where there were unconfirmed reports of Maverick activity. The Hunters were being called in to investigate. All in all, it read like a routine mission. Nothing out of the ordinary.
It was the specifics that Zero didn't care for. Only he and X were being sent in there. Unconfirmed Maverick activity or not, usually a squad was taken. Then there was the lingering feeling of uneasiness that had been hanging around since that mission to the factory where they fought Sprocket Squirrel. Something had been going on there. But Zero still didn't know what. It made him edgy. And now this mission. He didn't like it. Though Dr. Cain seemed to think it would be okay with just him and X.
"I still don't like it," he said, making a face before throwing the mission briefing down onto his desk. "I don't like it at all."

|Zero and X talk
X had finally, finally been released from Medical. Oh sure, he'd only been in there a few days, but that was definitely long enough for Zero. In fact, as far as Zero was concerned it was more than long enough. And between visiting X in medical, having that lovely talk with Dr. Cain, and having to deal witht he aftermath of the Sprocket Squirrel mission, Zero had just about had it. Which was why, after he nearly bit a rookie's head off, he took a deep breath, decided that since no one needed him, he'd be giving himself the rest of the day off unless a life threatening emergency came up, and went to find X.
After all, he wanted to have a talk with the other repliroid, among other things.

Zero woke a while after X. To find himself alone. He clearly remembered the night before. He'd gone to the bar with X. And they'd sang Me and My Met
. And X had sang the Met's lines. And then they'd gotten back here and made out. And Zero was quite sure that X had been there with him that night. Had fallen asleep in Zero's room. And Zero had curled around him. And it had been nice.
And now X was gone.
Zero got up, and brushed out his hair. And then he pulled it back into his customary ponytail, before going to look for X. After changing his clothes. He didn't bother changing into his armor. It was his day off, after all.

Zero was bored. There still was no leads on Cigma, or Vile or Spark Mandrill. And he hadn't seen X in awhile. He was taking a well-deserved break at the moment. After all, as much as he liked it, they couldn't fight maverick bots all the time. He was half-tempted to go out and fight more anyway, or at least go check on the rest of the 17th.
Of course, he'd also just finished dodging Dr. Cain. The old man had wanted to study him again. And that always made Zero leery. Especially since Dr. Cain could keep himself amused for hours
